In Memory

Louise Emmott

While viewing the messages for Stephen Palmer and Uldine Edlin (Pomakis), I noticed a bounced email for Louise. Upon checking her Facebook page, I learned she passed on November 7, 2019. Louise was a class member, although she did not graduate with us.

Obituary for MSG Louise C. Emmott

MSG Louise C. Emmott, US Army (Ret.) 68, of Lugoff, died Thursday, November 7, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Philip Merrill Emmott and Dorothy Gookin Emmott.

The Army was her life. She was a MSG and retired after 20 years of service. Her blood ran red, white, and blue. Louise taught Chemical Warfare in Seattle, WA and served in Germany, Fort Riley and Fort Jackson, from where she retired. She was a tough Drill Sergeant who loved her troops and had a big heart. If they could not make it home for the holidays, they broke bread at her table and were loved like nieces and nephews.

Survivors include siblings, Lee Emmott (Gail), Marilyn McCabe (Leo), John Emmott (Sandy), Kelly McMillan, Joseph Emmott; many beloved nieces and nephews, many fellow soldiers and dear friends. In addition to her parents, MSG Emmott is preceded in death by a brother, Robert G. Emmott; and a sister, Mary D. Emmott.

The graveside service, with full military honors, for MSG Emmott will be held at 9 o’clock, on the morning of Tuesday, November 12th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
