Elizabeth Segeberg (Kirkland)
Elizabeth M. Segeberg, 73, of Epping, NH, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, at Exeter Hospital following complications from a sudden, unexpected heart attack.
Born on April 4, 1952, in Needham, MA, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Alexander and Louise (Kell) Kirkland. She grew up in a lively household as one of five siblings, and her early years in Needham shaped a lifelong love of learning and compassion for others.
A graduate of Needham High School and Colby-Sawyer College, Elizabeth dedicated over five decades to the field of education. She began her career as a first-grade bilingual teacher at the Tilton Elementary School and former Burnham Elementary School in Haverhill, MA. Her passion for kindness and advocacy for animals later led her to a meaningful role as a Humane Education Teacher with the New Hampshire SPCA, where she touched countless young lives by teaching empathy and respect for all living beings.
In 1980, Elizabeth’s life took a beautiful turn when she reconnected with her childhood friend, Raymond Segeberg. Their deep friendship blossomed into true love, and on Valentine’s Day in 2000, they were married—an enduring testament to their bond.
Elizabeth called Epping, NH, home for the past 35 years, where she and Ray built a life filled with love, laughter, and an ever-growing family of beloved pets. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: a good book, a peaceful walk, or a ride on the Harley beside her soulmate.
She is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Donny Kirkland. Elizabeth leaves behind her devoted husband, Raymond Segeberg; her siblings, John Kirkland, Jeannie Kirkland, and Bobby Kirkland; her nephew, Donny Kirkland; and her niece, Jessica Lindeman. Her spirit, warmth, and unwavering kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Brewitt Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant Street, Epping, NH. A graveside service will follow on Monday, May 5, 2025, at 12:00 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery, 153 Exeter Road, Epping, NH.
Flowers are welcome. Memorial donations may also be made to the Harvey-Mitchell Memorial Library, 151 Main Street, Epping, NH 03042, in honor of Elizabeth’s love of reading and learning.
