Francis Clare Curtin

F. Clare Curtin, a retired Needham High School teacher died on Thursday, March 1st  (2007) at Avery Manor in Needham. 
He was 95 years old. 
Born and raised in North Abington, Clare was a graduate of Yale University Class of 1935. 
While at Yale, he played tackle for the Yale Football Team where he excelled was later named an remembered as "Captain of 1934 Ironmen." 
After Yale, Mr. Curtin went on to receive his Masters in Education from Columbia University. 
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mr. Curtin taught English and coached football at Needham High School. 
He was Director and a counselor of Camp Keewaydin in Salisbury Vermont for many years. 
Mr. Curtin retired from teaching in 1978. 
He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed walking. 
He was the beloved husband of the late Marion H. (Beaulac) and the father of Robert E. and his wife Dorothy Curtin of Needham. 
Grandfather of Meredith and her husband Michael Siegel of Arlington and Kristen and her husband Adam Williams of Oakland CA. 
Private graveside services will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Needham. 
In lieu of flowers donations in Clare's name may be made to the Camp Keewaydin Foundation, 10 Keewaydin Rd, Salisbury, VT 05769-9786. Arrangements by the Eaton Funeral Home in Needham.
