Alvin Wolff (Teacher Eliot School)

WOLFF, Alvin B. Of Millis, formerly of Needham, entered into rest on Sunday, February 9th, 2014 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 88. He was predeceased by his wife, Esther in 2000. He is survived by his children; Andrea Wagner and her husband Robert of Millis, Susan Wolff, and her husband Mik Shain of Jackson Hole, WY, his grandchildren, Jessica and Elisabeth Wagner both of Millis, his brother Richard Wolff of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends in the Eaton Funeral Home, 1351 Highland Ave., NEEDHAM, on Tuesday, February 11th from 5-7 PM. Funeral services are private. Please omit flowers, for donations in Al’s name please refer to the funeral home website. Born in Boston Al attended Boston Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Wolff later graduated from Indiana University and received his Masters in Education from Boston State Teachers College. He was employed as an elementary school teacher at the John Eliot School in Needham. Al was a member of the Lt. Manson H. Carter VWF Post 2498 in Needham. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service, South Boston annex and for Sandy's Photos in Jamaica Plain. Al was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering on the Red Sox and the Patriots, if they weren't playing then he always rooted for the underdog. Additionally, he coached football and hockey and enjoyed running, having run the Boston Marathon. Al spent his life helping children, particularly those in need and he will be missed by all who knew him.
